That’s not it at all, I think you need to read it again. She’s not possessive, a possessive person would try to stop the target of their possessive feelings from doing whatever is causing those feelings. She’s not doing that at all what she feels is a sense of inferiority towards the other girls singing ability just like her brother felt in his past life.
Hm... First of all, her brother aka MC is the only she could rely on in the past (Her family left her at home alone most of the time, and to a young child, MC was her one and only hero to come and protect her from what she scared-the house that filled with dark and loneliness).

From a 15 yo perspective, I think it’s pretty normal to search your identity, and it’s also hard to feel challenged when you know so little about yourself and the world. It’s tough to expand your universe.
That kid had a very special relationship to her brother, her love for singing probably also is related to her exchange with him as a little girl, And maybe, it’s also hard to let go of your grown up family, to acknowledge coming changes, while wondering where you stand, what you’re relationship is going to be next, out of the nest ?
