I've been thinking that the other reason why they(high elves) didn't want their children to be raised at the mansion is bc of the village chief's wives heirarchy. Way before, the women has talked abt the heirarchy there and in the light novel too. The main wives has more authority and live in the mansion with village chief. The high elves wants to avoid any conflict between the wives and would raise their children to be on their tribe. To them, it would be better for their children to not assume as the village chief's potential inheritors but as ppl of the high elves instead
