Sorry, but in a universe where humans have powers, magic and time travel, why would it be mandatory to follow our history? What you are saying makes no sense at all... It is another universe, with another history, there may be a billion historical facts different from ours. The simple fact that everything is clean and there are no employees waving fans in front of the tables because of the flies is already different from our universe. Consider the camera a magical item and move on. Don't compare the universe that the author is creating with ours, but with his own. Within the author's universe, is it strange that there is a camera? No. So move on.

I certainly enjoy fantasy stories much more than you do, that's without a doubt because I would never limit a fantasy author with historical facts. As I said, if it makes sense within the universe that the author created, for me, it's excellent. I would never try to impose unnecessary rules, especially in the fantasy genre.
