Alters don't kill each other nor vanish like that...if they're not needed they only go hiding inside, they'll come back if they feel safe or they feel the need to protect. It is possible though BUT the body or the host would get damaged, it's very traumatic... And also, they go hiding for a very long time that you think they already gone BUT THEY DONT. They can resurface again if triggered.... There's called integration, i think. Forgot what is called but some therapist do that to try and merge the diff personalities into one but it's not a successful method as the DID system have diff opinions and they live to work TOGETHER.
