Thank you! It always frustrates me when people complain on EVERY yaoi about rape. Yes, rape is bad.

However, when reading a genre that is full of taboo topics (and may be considered taboo in it of itself), it shouldn't be suprising that rape is a common plot point. It's like complaining about Mangas or fanfictions that have incest. Yes, incest is bad, but that doesn't mean that everyone who enjoyed the story lusts over their family members.

Just because it's common doesnt make it right. It's a bad trope that needs to change

Um no. I personally have no issue with gay people. And if you didnt notice, I compared rape to incest (although I think they're not totally comparable). All I said was that yaoi could be considered taboo. I was just pointing out that homosexuality is considered taboo in a lot of places.

Also, I think that there is not necessarily a problem with rape in yaoi. Of course, it isn't the most tasteful way to develop a plot, but if it bothers you, then try a different genre. Perhaps shonen ai or shojo.

If you're reading something that may be considered taboo for one reason (even if that doesn't bother you), then the probability of there being something else that's taboo is much higher.

And please, don't call me homophobic because I stated facts that you disagree with.

I personally don't understand the logic of calling you a homophobe when you're reading yaoi. It makes literally no sense. It isn't a sound argument. When one doesn't have a sound argument they tend to throw insults so I'm sorry you have to deal with that.

Btw it seems in this case the rape was more like a poorly written plot device than an actual kink that people like, like incest or well rape. People feel offended bc the author tried to go somewhere more serious but failed miserably by introducing a heavy topic and revolving it lightly despite trying so hard to be taken seriously.

Totally agree with you! There are ways to do things, and using rape to make the mc fall in love with the other mc is just NOT right. That's what helps build rape culture.

These people definitely never saw JAV before. It's full of "rape". It's the concept they use very often.
And it's selling well in Japan.
These people seem to forget that the author targeting Japanese market not international.

It's pretty much the same as being a "slave" in BSDM action.
Is it okay to treat someone as your slave? NO.
But it's a play.
It's pretty much the same with novels with "killing" and "torture" theme.
Was it okay to do that?

Also, if they don't like it, why do they read it? Every manga having rape is tagged so. Save yourself the time of whining in the comments and read the tags before starting a manga.

I even had a heated converstion with someone who accused me of justifying rape and etc and said that liking this kinda concept will likely to make you do this in real life like WTF MAN ARE YOU STUPIDDDD???? SERIOUSLY?? and then double facepalm myself.

What such people need is a reality check (and their phones/laptops taken away from them lol). If they are so incapable of dissociating fiction from real life, they are clearly not old enough to be reading such mangas (=・ω・=)
