Wow...I'm going to have to disagree. I suggest you reread this chapter and understand what is being said and do some research on yakuza relationships. I don't get what you all want and why you all are so upset about Akitori and Rogi. Asami is actually a very strong woman.

I think where you are messing up on is how YOU would feel about being cheated on and you aren't open to knowing about other cultures and underground worlds. You really going to sit there and question morals of a head of a yakuza clan? Someone who has killed people thoroughout this story, you all get upset because he cheated on his wife which happens alot. We read yaoi filled with rape, murder, prostitution, drugs, abuse, incest and so much more derogatory terms, and you all are upset because of adultery and the wife didn't react the way you would have? Seriously?

First, this is a yakuza based story. Asami is an ane-san...she already knows that her husband is going to cheat. It happens a lot in the yakuza world. Most times, they only have a wife to produce an heir. You can tell Akitora loves her but he cares about Rogi too. Am I condoning him cheating? Of course not, but I do recognize a great character when I see one. I suggest you open your eyes and not criticize the mangaka because she is choosing to produce fleshed out characters and situations in her first long running series (5 volumes are going to be made). I swear, I am extremely disappointed whenever I come to this comment section and read these immature shallow comments on this manga.

The only thing "weak and stupid" here is your take on this manga and the latest chapter.

Alright, first thing first.. this story is judged on its own merits, regardless of the various themes falling under the Yaoi category.
Second, I have little knowledge of Yakuza's interpersonal relationship. I searched the subject and couldn't find a reliable source proving the "she already knows her husband's going to cheat, it happens alot in the Yakuza world" statement, so what's your reference?
Third, killing, stealing and cheating aren't as controversial, the majority of readers would agree that those acts are heinous in their own. What's controversial is the characters reaction to such deeds. And the way she dealt with cheating wasn't at all wise nor brave, since what you said about anego's situation wasn't proved, if it indeed was true then that'll expand this discussion rathar than end it, there's always a better choice than devaluing one's self i.e Asami's reaction.
Finally, I'm a huge fan of Scarlet Beriko, but this story left me utterly disappointed.

Um, no just no. Did you just say that killing, stealing and cheating aren't as controversial---but the characters reactions to it? So, what you want a cliche reaction--what do you want? You want her to cry and to kill Akitora and Rogi, would you call her strong then? You trying to spew something but you said nothing. There are countless novels, documentaries, websites talking about yakuza, the systems and the multiple affairs that they have. You're disappointed because she didn't make a cookie cutter story to your liking. Stop reading it then if you are disappointed. Seeing your yaoi selection on your page, I can see you don't like depth. Good day.

She didn't look weak. She looked experienced with the evils of yakuza and considering her sex worker background, I don't think sexual activity of this kind fazes her.

I suspect she's someone who just stays cool, period, in tough circumstances, and that's likely why Akitora fell for her. She is suitable to be the wife of an evil man--a woman not thrown off her game by people being bad. She's bad, too, really. Who marries a murderer/thief? Not a good woman.

I really wish to understand the real life situation of anegos.. I've read a research regarding the subject but unfortunately it wasn't satisfying.

She wasn't be aggressive, novels are reliable...you can reference novels.
I remember I had to read Confessions of a Yakuza, a memoir I had to read in my history class in college. It made me interested in Japanese culture and history. It illustrates yakuza life especially in the point of view of a yakuza boss (highly recommend) I'm an avid reader, I don't just read yaoi, I've also read books such as Gangster, Geishas and Monks by Gordon Hutchinson, Tokyo Vice etc. Some are memoirs and history books that are filled with crime, sex, adultery, deaths. I recommend them, very good reads.

I'll take a shot at this, and I won't bring other stories (fiction or fact) into it. The wife says that she's never had to face the person he's had an affair with. Which means she is well aware that he has had affairs in the past. She then says that it's something that Tora did. To me, that means that she accepts it because Tora did it. She accepts all of him and understands that he will cheat. Tora brought him there to hide him, so he's obviously important to Tora. And she knows how her husband would react if she were to behave in a way Rogi is describing. She'd end up at the bottom of the ocean. She married this man fully aware of what type of man he is, and she plans to support him no matter what. It is clear she loves him, and he loves her. And she is confident enough in their relationship that she knows no matter how many times he strays, he will always come back to her.

Now keep in mind, you are talking about one man that had no qualms beating another man to death. No sense of guilt after the fact. His right hand man didn't get all "oh my god what did you do?" Instead, he covered it up. Then told the wife where to find her husband, fully suspecting what she would find. The wife is no idiot. She knows that her husband is a murderer (among other things). And doesn't seem to have an issue with it. And then you have Rogi, who is nuttier than the rest. I don't consider any of them wise or brave. Possibly sociopathic, the lot of them. But I don't feel the wife is devaluing herself in any way. She said it herself, she has complete faith that he loves her. So she thinks her value is higher than Rogi and all the prior affairs

@Anon explaining it that way, her reaction makes sense now. she's too not sane. Choosing this life AND choosing to bring up a child in that environment, so yeah. I wouldn't be expecting much of that character.
