So the brother is out for vengeance against Heaven.
Long ago, the brother had a fiancee who he was infatuated with. However, that fiancee fell in love with Heaven. She tried to get closer to him, and Heaven, young as he was, let that woman kiss him. This was witnessed by the brother and the fiancee chased after him(?) to explain and put an end to the engagement. But the accident happened (tho it seems to be murder committed by the brother) and the fiancee dies.
Heaven blames himself for everything that happened and just lets his brother take away everything he cherishes. He treats the FL badly to mask the fact that he likes her and to ultimately shield her from his brother's craziness. He doesn't want FL to get tangled up with their issues that's why he seemingly favors other women to distract his brother from the truth.
I'm sooo tired of the authors giving a shitty reason about why the ml did that. Like what do you expect from the readers? To take pity on a cheating man like him?
