They were married and got divorced. I think because he got her in debt?? Not entirely sure but it is his debt. Basically he begged and she forgave him and agreed to pay off the debt with him and they agreed to remarry afterwards.

Means since he has no lawful relationship with him, the debt won't fall on him. But he is still leaving with her and leaching off of her. Basically a bastard.

This was Solches best novel actually. Bjorn is not acting out of character when he mistreats Erna. I just wished for more suffering/pining arc for him cuz the angst buildup was good. The author shouldve levelled up Erna situation so that the dynamics during Bjorn's "chasing" arc was more satisfying
