i imagine she probably didn't fully understand what it meant to pursue medicine and what sort of lifestyle that would involve. then when she saw how much work he had going on, probably didn't want to burden him with her situation, but ended up not being able to cope it on her own and probably didn't have another place/person to turn to. things like this happen all the time, it's not too far fetched. mental health infrastructure isn't that great in the us, i imagine it's worse in s korea and it's unfortunate that teens are forced to navigate this by themselves, bc how often do these discussions happen in a formalized, safe setting?
