read this a year ago but was unable to leave a comment back then bcs i fell down into a deep rabbit hole on wth is this all about.
i had my mouth open the whole time i was reading this. just when i thought it couldn't get any worse, it fucking does. all that trauma, addiction, and undiagnosed mental health conditions really caught up to him and made him make the worst decisions imaginable. i had so many questions even after reading until the end, so i did my research and some things finally made sense.
#1. this manga was adapted from a novel by osamu dazai. this is the last novel he wrote before unaliving himself with this lover in an aqueduct, uncannily similar to what yozo did (except yozo lived bcs he hallucinated)
#2. they say this is dazai's semi-autobiography, so yozo's thoughts and experiences were probably actually his
#3. yozo/dazai may have had autism, but we don't know for sure bcs he's dead, undiagnosed, and these things were quite unknown during the time it was written (it was written in 1940s)
so yeah, i hope it helped yall understand yozo's character. he's not just a dick or a coward just bcs he wanted to, he had been through many traumas and a probable neurological and developmental disorder. his brain is literally built different (⊙…⊙ )
yeo nan may seem confusing but besides communication, i think he also needs space. dal guk gave him a lot of time but he's still confused bcs dal guk kept clinging and pushing his boundaries (it's obvious that yeo nan is not ready for some things). yeo nan's childhood shows he isn't used to affection but loves dal guk, hence the push and pull.
they need to be apart for a while so that yeo nan can self-reflect and realize that he's worthy of love while dal guk needs to just let him come to him on his own when he's finally ready.
haon's ass is a whole storage compartment lol or sum multidimensional sht that fits anything
yall have been so used to unnecessary chasing and toxic plots that u can't appreciate this masterpiece. u just love manhwas that literally have nothing going on with them except going in circles and having SEVERE misunderstandings that u call these stories boring and ugly. those stories just speak w/ their dicks and not w/ their mouths bcs they cannot communicate like they're not actual civilized ppl. at least yubin and ginu were just horny dorks.
wake tf up and touch sum grass.
i'm usually not the type to mind love interests but it's so annoying here. how many times does mc have to sacrifice himself and not mind his family who worries for him just to save tessia? he drops everything at the sight of her being in slightest danger, and his growth became quite stagnant since reuniting w/ her.
while there were a lot of problems and incidents that need to investigated, he just kept helping tessia in assimilating the beast will (which just betrays them afaik so wtf even is the point). i just don't get the damn logic in establishing he's strong and calculated then his emotions take over once tessia is involved (not even thinking abt other ppl and his family smh). i can't remember why i dropped this in the past so i read it again and now i fucking remember why lol
yall r annoyed to the girls but why is no one annoyed on this weak ass mc. i gets that he's smart but the only skill that really carries him is his eyes, the fact that he's the author (idk if he really is but oh well), and that fucking luck. he only survives by using tricks and modifying but i also wanna see him actually winning by strength or literally any other skills
and please, don't show ur double standards here. if he's shipped with suho or jonghak yall wont complain
idc how valid his reasons were, but he is an a-hole for saying she is useless just bcs she was born a princess when technically, she is a 500-yr miracle.
it's also so fcking weird and annoying that he only loves his wife but is cold and neglectful towards their children (and again, idc abt his reasons). he'd be the cliche "cruel bastard type-of-dad" that if the empress died during the princess' birth. like yk, the dad who blames the youngest child for causing the death of his wife (as if the child didn't also lost their mother)
it's a good thing her mother lived, otherwise, she'll prob suffer constantly craving validation and looking for reasons why her dad was like that to her
this is like the first perfect enemies to lovers trope i've read in a while. it's so refreshing to see characters actually communicating while also being able to process their emotions as they give each other appropriate time and space. the humor here is also topnotch lmao they're being fr abt their lines being cringe (like normal 30+ yr olds). i love how hyunwoo is a top with a personality, and not just some nonchalant, cold, toxic male lead w/ a traumatic past to justify their sht bcs he listens to feedback. despite claiming to be opposites, he and youngwoo are similar in being both losers and idiots in love tbh (≧∀≦)
i would've preferred if dillon was really a different person and katarina was the real adeline. the idea of them having their own choice (like it's not just bcs of fate or wtv) and cedric loving dillon as who she really is sounds more appealing to me. tho this version seems really romantic, i would've really liked if dillon is just dillon and cedric loved her all bcs of her unique individuality. idk, maybe it's just me. i loved the overall story tho
will the art style improve in later chapters? i wanna read it but the ch1's art reminds me of criminal case ╥﹏╥
i thought it was a joke yall, but i'm on ch 159 of the novel and they really have that 'tension' (iykwim) ლ(´ڡ`ლ)
ngl i got scared at this side story's preview coz taeju looks like beom (same black hair and shi) that i thought dojin has twisted hots for his brother's bf
