This is just my opinion, but I feel like the male lead is being a little too soft. Listen, you’ve only known her for like a week or something and you’ve already grown enough of an attachment to be sad about a lie. Come on man, even if you are employee and employer, they usually aren’t that close. I understand he has the sad anime backstory, but shouldn’t his backstory rather bring up trust issues.

As seen in the pages, a book called “No Longer Human” by Osamu Dazai was mentioned. This is actually a really book and also has an anime called Aoi Bungaku. If you’re looking to watch it, it’s on gogoanime. It has 12 episodes which lead you through a psychological ride.
Anyways, the story was interesting. You could’ve already guessed the hypnotists had been involved, but forgotten memories don’t explain some of the plot. I’d honestly like to learn more about Dexter’s background.
