I think it's a case to case basis on every person, especially if the person got the new one through cheating on the so-called ex.

I usually don't get jealous, but I get weird episodes when I'm on my period hormones.
Even though I'm usually quite rational, my mind ends up going down stupid alleys when I'm on shark week. But my lover has had quite a dating history, that they candidly shared with me and it does leave a bitter taste. Sometimes it's better to not know too much.

my guess is: it's going to be something like... the blond wants revenge for some petty reason (maybe something like the redhead stepped on blond's homework) or redhead made a face blond thought was too funny/cute, & the pretty pebble reminds him of the redhead. the redhead's injury is connected to something the blond did.
also i think the eye colors seem too unusual for this setting, so far. i think they're beautiful, but unless there's suddenly magic or big supernatural stuff, i think it sticks out too much.
