He didn’t abandon his hero work. He abandon his soul to be a hero. And he feels guilty to the people that he failed to save and have to live the price of being a “hero” as those people torture him every second, constantly reminding him. And destroying every single piece of his happiness. For example, the chapter where he saw Ed covered in blood in one of his dreams.
The white hair dude is not human. He lives inside Cliff as he is what made Cliff strong to beat the demon war. The white hair dude at the beginning offered Cliff his wish when Cliff was at his last hopeless dying state and Cliff apparently had no choice but to take that offer thus taking the price which is the curse. I’m not 100% sure why Cliff won’t get rid of the curse when there is a way. He said that he doesn’t want anyone to find out who he really is. I’M DEFINITELY SURE WE’LL FIND OUT IN THE UPCOMING CHAPTERS THAT WILL REVEAL WHO HE WAS

1. Because he disagreed with the order and decided to rebell against the order ashaming his family so his father couldn’t bare the sight of him. Ed realizing this fact made him want to leave without facing his old man after his father slapped him and found this opportunity by chance and took it and left. So he’s not really exiled, just hated by the people there
2. There is no relationship between them. They literally just met. Ivanov decided to take an approach to him about his brother and other things. Ivanov has been spying on Cliff for a while and was the one who set Ed up for this which is how James (the red haired guy) knew Ed was his replacement since he was pressured by Ivanov. In short, Ivanov knew about Cliff when Cliff did not know him at all till they met.
3. It’s not that he doesn’t trust him. If Ed knew about the curse, he would have done EVERYTHING to cure his curse that Cliff doesn’t want it to be cured due to the risk of exposing his true identity or secret. It’s that he doesn’t want to be hated for something he did that he still didn’t tell us readers. There will be more info about what he did in the upcoming chapters for sure that will clarify.
4. Ivanov is using Ed to be a stepping stone with Cliff for something. Not sure why Ivanov is obsessed with Cliff but he’s onto something for sure. (MY GUESS is that Ivanov probably wants the power that Cliff had. He probably wanted Ed to get rid of his curse so he can acquire it or something. Now this is only my guess)

It’s not TOTALLY shounen ai. It’s kinda exaggerated with all the details but there are like SOME parts of romance relating to shounen ai and most of them are action with a story. If you’re interested in or okay with something like that then go for it. I personally like it cuz I wanna see how it ends but it’s long.

You should ask when wasn't he,, did you forget how did he hit and pushed kyon in the first chapters and he dose what ever he wants! What about attackng Karis and not wanting to meet Sihan ? He even was rude to Cecilia and Ryan when they were trying to help him,, he is rude to the servants ,, so he is practically rude to everyone... why not trying to help Ryan? at least they can make him live longer or something instead of saving him or create an antidote or something.. about kyon I didn't say anything I just said I like Karis a lot but advising kyon is so stupid
