Anyhow, for those who are saying beheading the workers is too cruel, maybe it is. But what happened was negligence. They could’ve take turns on eating so someone could keep watch. Working for the royalty in early ages means employees’ lives are basically owned by the King/Emperor or in this case, the Sultan. Justice is according to them. Their words are basically the law. Working for them also means you have to be careful not going on their bad side because your lives are at stake.
Also, being lenient to mistakes can also be mistaken as tolerating them so harsh punishments are often given to set an example that mistakes are not easily overlooked. Its just too bad that the mistake here involves the woman who the sultan is obsessed about so the punishment was cruel.
