There are differences in plot in terms of the timeline. King's Maker the sfw version begins when the main characters are kids so if you want to go chronologically then you can start with the sfw version but the mature version and the sfw version go over the same plots but in the mature version there is more details. Then the sfw version is ahead in the story but the mature version hasn't been updated yet with the new season.
I had read the mature version first before reading the sfw version.
