In the third she had no feelings for him so he avoided the marriage and slept around trying to deny his love for her. Oscar has been obsessed with her forever and is determined to have her anyway he can. In the second life they were going to marry her off to an old man, his fiance's father, so there would be a reason to have her in the palace available to Oscar. In this current life she will make the same final choice if anything happens to Carcel, she would rather die than be with Oscar.
