If by worse you mean he's making alters integrate, it's not necessarily a bad thing.They didnt disappear, they integrated, meaning then joined back with a different alter. In some (I'm hesitant to say most) cases, a part of the integrated alter(s)' personality and memory will remain with the alter they integrated into. They didn't disappear, per se. I think it's good, actually. Alter's aren't created by positive influences. They're created as an automtic defence mechanism because the brain doesnt think the mind can cope by itself. The fact that, three alters integrated into another alter means that the traumatic causes of those three alters is no longer a serious threat to the brain. It shows that they're slowly coping/healing ^^
