shoujo is a demographic. romance is a genre. I know this, the demographic isn't for that age but this comic isn't labeled as romance in genre.
Uh… isn’t the point made here that this manga is seinen to begin with? Not Shoujo? All I know is whenever I want to read romance with a FL, I go in the josei and Shoujo section. When I want something with more grit and darker tones in the storytelling or romance wise, I look into the seinen section. Doing this has never failed to get me what I needed.
Also upon research for school essay I’ve once written a few years back, I can tell you Shoujo isn’t targeted to young girls because it lacks the romance factor. Rather, the romance genre is meant to be found there.
