i have always been in Go Siwon's side. Jun is just too rude.
Yes, Siwon forgot... BUT HE WAS DRUNK. Yes, he called Jun "disgusting" but Jun was being a real ass. He didn't mean it, and you could see he realised he went too far right after saying it.
JUN IS AN ASS. Things could've been SOOO MUCH EASIER if he were just truthful about things. Instead of having Siwon try to piece pieces together at once. Also, Jun is selfish. You can't just "make" someone like you. "Oh Siwon, either you like me romantically or we're through" "Oh Siwon, it's your fault that you forgot and now we can't have a good relationshippppp". I mean really. Com'on. How could you not side with Siwon?? I would react exactly like him!
Obviously Jun's upbringing has a factor as to why he's so cold like this (especially with the tramatic death of his mother). I'm not saying he's a "bad guy" and I'm not particularly saying that he's 100% in the wrong. But, coming from Siwon's PERSPECTIVE (because, again, Jun was just being COMPLETY uncooperative) I can totally understand his (Siwon's) behaivour.

    yung_medusa March 30, 2017 12:08 am

Holy shit yes to all of this!

    Izzy March 30, 2017 4:50 am

Yup, this story has a few holes.

    Fallust March 30, 2017 12:20 pm

I get what you're saying, and I was totally on Siwon's side in the start, too; but as we've learned more and more about the situation, I can also see what pisses Jinha off soo much about Siwon. Ergo I'm about neutral!
    ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
Crack your knuckles or save some time for a fat post cause' I type fast and love dissecting this stuff~

You brought up looking at it from Siwon's perspective, and I agree: from Siwon's perspective, Jinha is an ass and he's being unfair and uncooperative.
However, for the sake of consideration, we're gonna screw Siwon's perspective and look at it entirely from Jinha's pov.

A MAJOR point that I believe acts as a catalyst in their relationship dynamic is the simple fact that Siwon did not exclusively forget what happened when he was drunk.

He also forgot what happened when he was sober!

Before they started drinking, Siwon invited Jinha to play games with them, but Jinha wasn't comfortable accepting his invitation before confessing to Siwon that he is gay (presumably because he knew that it would be problematic if he didn't tell Siwon and they got drunk together).
I can't find the page with the panel in it that shows the original "I'm gay" confession scene, but this is a reflection of the scene in Jinha's nightmare where the once deceptively accepting Siwon is really just two-faced intolerant homophobe:

Unfortunately, to the detriment of their development, this is the only part about that particular conversation that Siwon actually remembers:
** More on this memory in a minute...let's jump to the make-out scene.

I think one of the reasons Jinha wants Siwon to remember for himself is because he confesses his feelings and/or his identity as Kang Jun:
I believe the other reason is because it was Siwon who made the first move, and therefore it's Siwon's move to make. After all, what kind of homophobic guy would believe you if you told him he made the first move...(he tells him, and Siwon doesn't...)

The morning after all this takes place, Siwon ignores Jinha's call to him and thenceforth believes he's being avoided due to the fact that they made out and he's gay.

**Alright back to that first memory! This one is a real brain-thumper because Siwon was sober when Jinha told him he was gay, so why doesn't he remember it? Jinha has no reason to think he doesn't remember that much...
** Jinha trusted that he could tell Siwon the truth; however, 95% of all Siwon's insults and reasons for avoiding Jinha or his feelings are entirely homophobic in context. They're especially harmful to Jinha because he believes Siwon is aware that he was kind and accepting of Jinha's sexuality in the beginning, but now he's practically stabbing him in the gut every time he says anything homophobic.

[[ "Yes, he called Jun "disgusting" but Jun was being a real ass. " ]]
If someone tried to break into your house and steal something precious of yours would you really not be an ass hole to them over it? Why would Jinha want to answer Siwon's questions when he's yelling at him inside of his own home holding a sentimental item that doesn't belong to him? Sure, Siwon probably felt bad about telling Jinha he was "disgusting", but to Jinha it's an entirely new level of low when you consider that from his p.o.v. it's an intentional stab in the back.

Furthermore, I'm thinking the kiss that follows is due to the fact that Siwon really did make the first move at the getaway, and thus Jinha is desperately trying to get Siwon to remember so that he can stop being a hypocrite saying Jinha's disgusting for being gay when Siwon kissed him first. Hence the "So now you're just as disgusting as me huh?" It's not confirmed but I'm leaning on this theory because I really don't think Jinha would have kissed him then and there unless he was trying to stop Siwon from treating him like he was any more disgusting than himself. Honestly, there're a lot of hints to this in the story; not only does Jinha insist Siwon's not remembering things "properly", but he asks "Can you kiss me?" multiple times, which may be hinting to that very thing. In other words, we think Jinha has been the one to driving this relationship, but honestly I'm speculating Siwon is the one who started it! BRING ON THE CLICHE! (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ

[["Things could've been SOOO MUCH EASIER if he were just truthful about things. Instead of having Siwon try to piece pieces together at once."]]
** Except that after 3 years of thinking you're being intentionally avoided over a make-out session with another man, it's hard to tell someone you know thinks homosexuals are creepy that they conveniently forgot that they were kind and accepting of you being gay and then follow that with "we made-out when you were black-out drunk after I confessed and you wanted it," ya know what I mean?

[[ "You can't just 'make' someone like you. 'Oh Siwon, either you like me romantically or we're through'"]]
** Personally, I can understand Jinha not being able to have a friends-only relationship with Siwon knowing that he's in love with him. I know all too well that this level of love only makes that sort of relationship more painful than having no relationship at all. It's like being completely dehydrated in the middle of a scorching desert with a glass of ice cold water sitting in front of you but you're unable to touch the glass or take a sip.
Jinha attempted multiple times to stay out of Siwon's way but Siwon kept coming back.

[[ "'Oh Siwon, it's your fault that you forgot and now we can't have a good relationshippppp'." ]]
** It's hard to have a homosexual relationship with someone who pretended to accept your sexuality only to slice you deep and dump a huge salty serving of homophobia on the wound. (+if Siwon kissed him first, than it's sensical that he should be the one to drive the relationship forward)

Welp, I hope you're not exhausted if you made it this far LOL! Kudos if you did. I know some of the things Jinha has done/said are over the top, but I do think his heart is genuinely in the right place regarding Siwon; similarly I think Siwon is also an ass hole that specializes in aggregating Jinha's already thin tolerance of shenanigans.

Anyway it's like 6 AM now and I have to work in a few hours lol; I just felt like dropping this stuff here cause' it seemed like a good opportunity to do so.

    Okay. Wow.
    So many words...
    But I read it
Okay so: I can definitely see where you're comming from. I don't recall the "original I'm Gay confession scene" but, regardless, I can still see where you are coming from.
For the scene where Siwon "breaks into his house". I feel that it was 75% justified (leaving the law out of this, lol) because Jun wasnt giving him answers. He had to take action.
I can see what you're saying with "It's Siwon's move to make" because literally, the outcome of their relationship is dependent on what Siwon does. Since Jun gave him an ultimatum (I'll talk more about this later).
But yes, (since we're now talking about Jun's p.o.v) I can see how Jun would be confused and angry at Siwon. Especially if he hadn't realised that Siwon didn't remember from that night.
My feelings about Jun giving Siwon the ultimatum ("either you like me or where not friends" thing): Of course it would be hard for Jun to be around Siwon, but Siwon didn't nessecerily say that he didn't like him. Siwon's having all this information, confusion and weird freaky-deaky dreams coming at him all at once. Even if he did feel someway toward Jun, his emotions and confusion are In turmoil at the moment. Just give him so time to think! He's trying to process a lot of information at once, and Jun definitely has not made the process any easier.
    http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/a_man_like_you/uu/a_man_like_you-chapter-23/5/
Jun is asking for too much too quickly. Also, in the beginning, all Jun wanted was to be friends with Siwon.
    http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/a_man_like_you/uu/a_man_like_you-chapter-14/23/
He himself has to realise that Siwon can't just "switch" and be in a relationship with him just because he says so. Especially when Jun hasn't givin him any actual reason to like him (with his cold attitude and all). Yes, Jun would probably be in a lot of pain, but he hasn't even tried to cooperate with Siwon at all.
Anyways, I can agree with your closing statement "Welp... Shenanigans". And also, thanks for giving a bit of Jun's p.o.v. Though I'm still on Siwon's side, I guess (it pains me to say) I can at least understand Jun's confusion, hurt and irritation.
It's nice to have a good and respectful conversation.

Islander March 24, 2017 6:26 pm

I'm quite sure he's bleeding because he's being forcibly raped (continuously). I also think that sensei has something to do with it (NEVER TRUST THE CHARACTER THAT ALWAYS SMILES).
The poor thing is probably in some sort of denial and the only way he can make sense of the situation is if he has a "period". The reason he keeps mentioning it is because he's subconsciously trying to get help. If my guesses are correct, this is much like the last chapter of sensei's other work: http://www.mangago.zone/read-manga/ore_higaisha/nbt/c004/pg-1/
My theory is that the female Sensei knows what's going on and keeps trying to get the main character to do something about it (but I don't think her intentions are positive... Perhaps the one she's marrying is the male Sensei he was blowing off in chapter one, and she's jealous?)

...but I'm rambling and letting my imagination go everywhere. Lol.

Islander March 18, 2017 2:55 pm

I understand why people are upset about rape in yaoi (I feel the same way in this particular story) but guys. ITS NOT GOING ANYWHERE. Literally, you can't sit down and complain about it In every story because it it what it is. It's futile. Just because it's in a work of fiction, doesn't mean it translates to real life. I am 100% against rape, do I either adapt my thinking into "this is a work of fiction that someone has created for an audience" or I just stop reading. I agree with Translator-san's statement.

    Anonymous March 18, 2017 3:09 pm

I am glad because translator-san's just confirmed sth I always suspected about what the "appropriate" behavior during intimacy is like for some Asian cultures. Now I finally have proof. Many thanks to translator-san!

    Gem-chan March 18, 2017 3:18 pm

I totall agree with the translator 100%. My prob is the rape and although they saying don't read, if in the genre section it had rape along with the other stuff then I wouldn't have read it.
