Akito had a really shitty childhood. It doesn’t excuse what she did to the Zodiac members, but it gives more of an insight as to WHY she was the way she was in the main series. She grew up with a mother who absolutely hated her and abused her, and who was the main cause behind her relationships within the Zodiac to become so twisted and strained.
Yeah, she did some messed up things, but not everything is fixed for her in the sequel. Family members still look down on her, her monster of a mother is still alive to torment both her and her son, and she feels so much guilt for what she did that she doesn’t even attend family meetings. Tohru is such a big reason behind her even being able to have even a TOUCH of happiness.
Akito may not have been a good person originally, but she has so much character growth that I’m proud of her for maturing and learning how to let go of the things she can’t control.
