People have lost the ability to cope with open ended endings. There’s two ways to look at it.
1. The demon orchestrated the entire brutality to maximize the despair of MC and then manipulated him into a contract for his soul,
2. The villagers were also evil to the demon like they were to MC and the Demon will fulfill the MC wish of having someone love him.
It’s up to you! The the entire pointttt, it can’t be longer because the idea was shock value and vague to let the reader decide what they want to believe.
You cannot have a story about religious abuse without having a tough conversation about purity culture.
Like if course the most resentful character experience sexual abuse… shocked but not shocking
It okay for you to wish the MC didn’t get raped- duhhh who would be for that? But the MC has been raised as tool since he was a kid and used in every single way by people who he trusted. Plus, his religious trauma made him devalue himself for it!
His trauma is apart of the narrative! Not every convo about SA is going yo look like a PSA- sometimes it’s tragedy in a manga unfortunately. I get being shocked/ I wasn’t expecting it to go there. I thought this was a fluff read too. But in this case- adding SA isn’t that crazy. It works in the story and does build out our MC and current antagonist backstory well.
I just think it’s very dangerous to start soap boxing about no SA in a story that implied it and also really framed the who leads right now.
Idk it’s been 8 months and what really has even happened? I feel like kiss me liar was better paced… this has been kind of slow.
The comments allude to more plot than story has this far.
Idk if people are being obtuse but the story is using the supernatural force of the black water to parallel the real threat of the abuse of power of the church and nobility.
This is not a story for children- which is low key obvious it’s adults… you got to approach it with maturity.
How they take talented vulnerable and young people and control and torture them.
I get not wanting to read rape porn- but this is clearly not that. It wasn’t graphic- it was haunting for sure. This story isn’t a comfort read- it’s a supernatural tragedy of humans.
I totally get people not reading with anything with SA but saying it wasn’t necessary arent taking into account the message the author is giving… SA here fits in with the plot as much as the murder, torture, mind control, and jealousy is.
This story had so much promise and it ended as a flop I’m sorry. Lots of untapped potential. We needed the author of rough uniform to step in immediately.

J know spoilers said it’s not a happy ending and Seme leaves. Is this following novel or deviating?
I skipped the entire season 2 and now we’re finally getting to jaekyungs backstory. It’s been filler till now.
That’s part of his character- he had an unfiltered crass mouth. But so far he hasn’t forced MC and it’s clear the MC is surrounded by vultures worse than him. Ironically he’s more afraid of ML than them.
Him being mad about kneeling is because he’s not trying to subdue the MC- he’s trying to woo. It’s clear that in his line of work, his demeanor, and vulgarity it’s not working and he doesn’t have the awareness on how to be softer.
This does include a lot of dubcon- but you have to factor the environment and circumstances. The MC is a straight boy getting turned out- even by choice- will make consent murky period. I suggest tapping out for those who don’t like that.
He’s not down for mind games- he’s getting his man and making it crystal clear
