When I first read the latest update, instead of focusing on the fact that he didn't take the initiative to help Yeongwoon, I felt a sense of appreciation for how real and plausible Taegu's character was.
The way he slowly lowered his guard towards Yeongwoon through their small interactions, starting from mild curiosity, then quietly observing, and eventually confronting the full extent of what he had been intentionally turning a blind eye to, was really amazing how the author/artist depicted it imo.
He didn’t look away and didn't take initiative because he didn’t care or because "he was a gangsta," but he did it because he didn’t want to get too close. And once he really saw the full extent of what Yeongwoon was going through, his guard was already down. At that point, he was already emotionally involved, whether he meant to be or not. That’s when the sympathy and pity started to come through. It was subtle, but it hit hard.
Huh? Seo-In knew Yeongwoon was getting beaten by his dad and he was the one who told him to run away. That's where he started feeling more relatable to his situation and started a true friendship. Not bcuz he "loved" him. He didn't even wanna call it love at all. He also knew his brother would be pissed if he hung around Yeongwoon which made Yeongwoon-ah that evil twin's target. And abuse? Yeah, I guess he was emotionally abused by his evil twin bro and also slapped ONCE by their father and that was horrible, of course. But as I mentioned Seo-In's past is bad but he didn't have it as bad as Yeongwoon-ah. Seo-In wasn't beaten daily and had to smile through it all. He had a mother who at least cared for his well being. He didn't have worry about money, food, place to sleep. His future wasn't taken from him. No one is out there holding a grudge against him over miscommunication. Holding their past over him, coercing into raping him, humiliating him, making him feel like nothing over things he had no control over as a teen. Hell, they were middle schoolers. Yeongwoon-ah was a middle schooler who only got a glimpse of a future he could've had that was left damaged just like him.
Seo-In had a sad childhood and I feel for Seo-In as a kid but adult Seo-In who made his own choices? I don't care what drove him to it. He is to be held responsible for it. Because Yeongwoon-ah never changed when he had every valid reason to. He reminded innocent. And maybe, that's why I'm more mad bcuz I wanted him to crash out. I wanted him to change to protect himself from Seo-In and anyone else who could hurt him.

And them saying "Taegu’s only protecting YW out of guilt" is such a surface-level take. His emotional arc is clearly layered .. guilt, care, confusion, even restraint. He wasn’t responsible for YW to begin with. But he chose to step in. That choice, especially from someone in his line of work, holds weight.
