He started avoiding her less because "he's a monster" and more because his demonic bloodline meant that he and her, who had spirit powers, were natural enemies. I think he was afraid he'd hurt her accidentally because his powers hadn't settled yet?
But like I said, it's been a while since I tried to read the novel. Around a year? So I don't remember much.
I just hope that bitch doesn't fall in love with MC and gets what she deserves BTW I ship the MC with Demon king
