It's only natural that dads are more strict if it comes to their own sons. Idk y but that's how it often is. He probably wanted Baek to be Ian. That's quite normal of what I heard. But it's really sad to see where such behavior, specially if it comes from a parent, leads. Obviously really traumatic for the kid, yes. What makes it worse is that his dad died before he even had the chance to say sorry (I mean, if he intended to do so in the first place). Maybe there will be more flashbacks.
