when nain gets too depressed he will disappear-- literally. Aamon and gwen had a fight where they were both in the brink of death. Nain saw this and become depressed bc he thought gwen was dead (he fell in love w/ gwen to the point he said to aamon he can't live w/o gwen). Najn couldn't handle what happened and disappeared... after that Nain became something like a ghost. Only gwen and aamon can see him. (reading this novel my heart hurts for nain so much pls )
