Most guys aren't. However he isn't abusive, he just doesn't know her anymore than she knows him. He seems rash and abrasive, but not only has he spent years surrounded by men out fighting for their lives, as far as he knew, she was in on setting him up along with her father. She's a stranger to anything but disdain and vicious abuse, so it will take time for her to understand she can talk to him without threat of harm
