I actually enjoy this background story because it's nice to know how they all ended up at where they are now.
This story is getting darker and darker with each chapter. Only after over 150 chapters we're getting to know these characters, just to learn how cruel the world was with them...

It's a really interesting way to go about it. Most author seem pretty eager to show backstory's of main characters, but Toboso does the opposite where we get to know the characters first in a completely different way. I think the circus arc was still my favourite because the reveal had me leaving like 'damn'.
Putting our feelings aside making Yona sit next to him is a great strategy. It boosts the morale of the people and it also shows not to lay a hand on Yona, because the culprit will face the anger of the king.
Tada is a great detective and the manager is a paranoid person. The only thing they have in common is that they both doubt everything around them and they are intelligently suspicious, unlike the detective lady who fell into conclusions far too easily.
From my point of view this is the reason why they are 'immune to Usobuki'
