This series has bad pacing and writing. You can shorten this by a whole season and this ending had no development except for like 3 chapters but even that was nothing.
Some of yall say "when two people love each other" and here's the thing, we didn't see them love properly. We didn't see no romance, that's why some readers are dissatisfied with how the got together. We didn't see them even repair their relationship it was a timeskip and I miss you, now let's get together bullshit.
There was no proper development of their redemption nor a hint or their romance beforehand. So you can all say its good when in reality it skipped over all of the things that would've made it good.

They need to realize that you can't build a relationship solely through sex. Sex can be a love language AFTER its non sexual development is properly introduced but it never was in ytc. Please those two couldn't even communicate even in those moments. It gave nothing. THIS, the story writing itself just wasn’t that great. Especially the second half. It’s frustrating when you wait so long and the story just isn’t satisfying. Both sides of ‘stans’ are just weird to me because I personally felt like neither of the relationships were good, but the real issue is that so much of what makes a great love story was just skipped over. We saw really nothing of their development between separation and being reunited. I think I would have been just as dissatisfied with him ending up with Cain without them working through how much he was willing to allow himself to be walked all over and humiliated just to hold on to their relationship. I’ve gotten this far and I keep reading because I’ve invested so much time, but it feels like I’m just reading to get to the end and not enjoying the ride anymore.

In chapter 45, he finally will experience something that he never had experience before in his life. It's such a thrilling moment to see him being taken aback by his dark emotions that he never imagined to be in him. A sharp contrast from his usual personality. The turning point for me was how he acknowledged his dark emotions as a part of him. So true he's not naive and uninteresting like how most people projecting him.

I think people are more fond of TJ's sex scenes chemistry with Ian and completely ignoring the plot. I'm very sure Joseph will not get toxic. He's really different from all the characters that I have seen. You put someone like Joseph in the same background as Ian and TJ, he definitely will be the most unpredictable one out of the three MCs. Yes, especially when their love ones involved in the cruel world.
I also kinda blame the author for including so many sex scenes, but it’s really up to the readers how they see that. And it’s disappointing that majority of the fandom are not really reading and only thinking about the sexual chemistry when there’s more.

The sex scenes between TJ and Ian necessary for the plot since they both can't communicate with each other like a normal people. Sex is their only communication. You get to see what they are actually thinking and the build up of their relationship. If Joseph remains the same like how he used to be he can't win the battle against the familiarity and attachment that's stronger than what he has now for Ian. So yes we are finally going to see character development from them. The plot is actually thickening. I think it will get darker from now on.

That's why their sex scene are more passionately drawn. But people only focus on just plain sex.
