Well that was anticlimactic. They built that up like it was going to lead to something big but in the end it was nothing really. I thought maybe Eric was going to drag Shell off, maybe tying him up to prevent him from hurting his self or anyone else and the chapter would continue with an EPIC battle between Humpty Dumpy and Jack. Culminating with them killing each other. Then maybe next chapter would be Shell descending into madness and Eric finally pulling him out of it. But that was a little too easy for me, I mean if it's that easy why doesn't Eric just go around curing everybody? It felt like the stakes were really high in the last chapter. Don't get me wrong I'm glad that Shell is OK but I don't like how they got there (too easy)
Maybe bringing up real life in a yoai manga about a vampire romance that has a suicide attempt in it is silly but threatening to kill yourself to force someone to marry you is NOT a good way to start a marriage. In fact it's not a good way to do ANYTHING. Don't get me wrong, I love the story and the parents are super cute but HOLY SHIT I was NOT expecting that and I don't so much care for that aspect of the story.

I completely understand your outburst but after coming to terms with my own version of hate for Momota, I think I understand her and the whole situation in ch 9. I believe she was never forgiven, which I think was just right because she doesn't deserve it. Giving her the ring was not Momo forgiving her, but it is Momo letting go of everything about her, the anger, pain and even love for her as his mother.
For Momota, getting the ring is accepting she is Momo's mother? Not sure there. But to me, all those years, since she stopped being nice to Momo (she was a hardworking Mom for Momo at some point according to flashbacks), she was actually giving up and running away from being a mother. The flashback where she tried to wear the ring but it didn't fit sort of tells me she tried to redeem herself as a mother but because it didn't fit, along with her pride, she continued on being a bitch. And I believe she regretted it, now she wants to recognize being a mother again, but just to herself, and definitely does not mean she wants to be a mother to Momo, because now they cut all ties. Maybe she wanted a thing that would tell her that she is capable of being a mother to the new family she is going to make, since the ring meant that at some point, she created a child who is sweet enough to give his mother a gift. The ring symbolized that she did something right as a mother before the hell started. She wants to do those things again minus all the shit decisions she did. Sorry, that was long.
