So toward the end she was framed for killing his mother (it was after his mother started to accept their love) and he turned on her... and he had to marry the evil girl..... but it turns out he did that to protect her and to compile all of the evil girl and her family evil deeds.
His evil uncle tried to take the throne and forced her to marry him, because
He liked her and she was the last person with the emperor (the grandfather) before his death which was caused by the evil uncle... he forced her to tell everyone that the late emperor chose him to be king and frame the assassination on the ML....
Just before everything the ML bust in to save her and she revealed that the ML is the rightful king and exposed the uncle evil deed as well as the two evil sisters .
Evil uncle was killed along with his concubine (which was the evil cousin)
But it turn out both the ML and MC was poisoned and there was only one antidote the ML told them to give it to her and don’t tell her their was only one....
Because the poison was rare they could only suppress the symptoms and not completely cure him...
It’s bitter sweet because he becomes king she becomes empress, they have a lovely, sweet and cute life together always flirting... they have a son... but he dies in the end... I think he had ten year so he was with her for ten whole years...
Oh and the Evil girl also gets what she deserves. Being locked up in the cold palace and forced to drink poison by him....
Oh I see... It's indeed quite bittersweet but thank fully I can take it! It's not a bad ending at least not like some other C-dramas that rip your heart lol Thanks for the summing up! Btw since you are also a Cdrama fan, do you have any recommendations lol Three of my fave are Ashes of love(quite emotional but with a happy end), Bloody romance (quite the unique plot, bittersweet ending) and as a happy /more light love better than immortality

It’s not the same thing
the stroyline is very different but i think its based off the same chara... like the princess weiyang and the two antagonist li chang le and prince tuoba zhen.....
both the manhua and drama were based on the novel Called the Poisousnous Daughter by Qin Jian... Sometimes manhua and drama storylines are altered or is slightly different from the novel it was based off I'm not too sure why
I think this is where she will shut rennald up and make him feel guilty for how he is treating her and it is super satisfying but I’m not to sure that is what I read from the novel and spoilers but I really hope it is the part I’m thinking of...
In the last eat chapter when they were having the meeting about living together He wrote separate bath and toilet..... at first I thought he meant they would have their own restroom and I was freaking out becAuse that would take away all the potential cute scenarios of them sharing a restroom....but after reading it again I finally understood he meant the bath would be separate from the toilets.... I usually to see the two together and not separate so it didn’t really come to mind I have seen a toilet separate but never a room with just the bath/shower....
