How the men spoke to and of women in these times makes me sad... They seemingly control everything, she wasn't able to refuse an engagement herself, wasn't even allowed to go out and while she is certainly privileged as a rich daughter from the chancellor I can't say shes free to life her life how she wants to...
Ofc she can still find happiness in that, and I'm sure some back then did, but so many other opportunities were denied
