i cannot believe that i came across this story so randomly, i’m thankful to myself for clicking on it.
i often say that i prefer sad endings because you think of them longer, but there are no words that can explain how glad i am that this has happy ending.
i have read up until chapter 6. it's late now and i'll head to sleep. sweet compatibilities have always been so terrifying to me. i already feel so sentimental and bittersweet, i think the age gap is well paced, that's how its full glory shines. maturity, understanding, their families.. i am forever grateful to the person, the profile of whom i snooped around. i am glad you also had a good time reading it.
i got absolutely destroyed at the mention of “happy together” it’s one of my favorite films and i don’t think that i will be able to watch it from now on without thinking about this story. i’m going to rewatch it now, just to feel that devastating heartbreak one more time. if you haven’t watched it yet - i dearly recommend it. here’s my favourite quote from the film,
“Sometimes i think ears are more important. You “see” better with your ears. You can pretend to look happy, but your voice reveals the truth. If you listen closely, you understand.”

i’m not really sure, i can see the resemblance but both are unique in their own ways. give it a watch if you haven’t, you won’t be disappointed. wong kar-wai’s cinematography is breathtaking and his film easily get engraved in your memory.

finished reading this on christmas eve and i cannot find the words to explain the emptiness that i’m feeling right now. i’m disassociating on every few minutes. i feel my body starting to fall apart into pieces and i’m gripping so hard on my rib cage just to make sure i really do exist.
while i was reading the last chapter the song “willing to follow you down” by lowercase played on the shuffle. it ended the same moment when i arrived to the last page. i will not be able to listen to that song without bawling my guts out from now on.
for the start, this story irritated me a lot. it’s heartbreaking seeing author constantly misgender their own character after obviously stating that he is transgender. going for the positive aspects of this story-beautiful artstyle, Claudine’s design reminds me awfully lot of Oscar from rose of versailles (most likely because both of them were inspired by Bjorn Andersen and are from the same author) and both of them have such tragic endings, which just adds on their similarity.
I think the fault lies to whoever translating the manga since japanese pronouns is gender neutral. They should've let the prof adress him as a man, rosemary too.
