but to your question: I think Rum eventually realised that Ginger likes him. as for Ginger choosing to be a demon - It was also only Ginger's assumption that Rum will not like him as an angel. Ginger NEVER asked Rum what his real thoughts are. he was too self-absorbed with his own pain and fear of rejection that he never truly looked at Rum nor did he listen.

Gin is half demon half angel. He decides to completely turn into an angel, he can escape that place but that would leave rum behind. Cube is like a subconsciousness of a person. That cube was for the author guy. If the cube opens up, all that guy's imagination would escape or more like your on a drugs and everything just doesn't make any sense.
