I can get past them being redrawn as children. I’ve seen a few artists do this and it’s cute to see them before they knew each other and before all of the events of the story took place. Like when you look at someone’s baby pictures. But it’s super weird to have JK still as an adult while holding Dan, who he’s already sexually authoritative with.
Now that you mention it, I kind of like when they redraw the characters as kids xD I haven’t felt an aversion so far from what I’ve seen, and I could kind of separate it from the story whenever it happens. It’s like a stand alone and it’s more for the sweetness and joy of it. Granted that’s what the author intended - just for the joy, pleasure, amusement, cuteness, and calmness of it xD
