It's actually a good quandary for a character. His motive was to meet and be with Catherine, but he used and was used to obtain that. He went in eyes wide open, but he didn't have malicious intent. He is a victim of his birth, but he has the potential to make his kind in law family victims. The art is always stunning.
She pretends to be worried about her son's happiness, while at the same time saying he 'ruined' everything and is making her unhappy. I worry why the CEO is rushing home, if it's to save his marriage, that's up to them. If it's because the mother is going to do something to herself to punish her son, I'm out.
Too lame of a story, that is going nowhere and has too frustrating of an MC.. Idiot doormat. I'm out, zero enjoyment.

When characters say " I didn't contact you because it would make me want to see you", what complete BS.. gaslighting.. selfish excuses. That would never fly with me.

I can't take him seriously since he stays with the brother of the man who he's running from. AND he uses that brothers electronics to call his uncle. How is he a smart guy?
The uncle is slime, so why also does he keep in touch with him? And once he's made by his old acqaintance he should have left immediately.. I personally would have loved to read a story about two intelligent people, at odds, and outsmarting each other. But this really isn't it.
