I think it was an interesting story in terms of studying the characters psychological state and how hijikata slowly started being mentally chained to gin

Ok so from what i've gathered so far Lucas treated a guy terribly, the guy went and became a black magician, him and some other existence slowly started whispering shit in the late kings ears since young age until he pretty much lost it and hated everyone around him and even tried to kill his own brother many times, afterwards when his brother almost killed him the dark magician took the chance and possessed his body and right now it's him in the body of the late king. Although the late king can't be completely gone considering his reactions to his daughter. I'm just hoping there is a way to save him as well
