the friend is kinda a jerk. he knows EXACTLY how his crush feels but he isn’t understanding or trying to let him be happy. hes trying to force himself into a relationship with him.
I feel that he thinks his friend is not consodering his feelings properly and it hurts him to be with him knowing that. Of course he would totally prefer if his friend's happiness would be with him. I think we all agree that it's really difficult giving up on someone you like and it hurts being with them knowing you don't really have a chance... I think sometimes he was a little forceful too, but I understand his feeling.
