When you are notified but you see there's no update, it's not a false/fake update. It's just that someone / mangago itself deleted the chapter/s that was recently uploaded. The reasons might be (1) it was mass reported due to poor quality of chapter/ translations (2) there was a problem when it was hotlinked, and (3) Mangago reason/s. You can check the early comments that talked about the recent chapter/gratitude for the upload to verify that it's not a false/fake update. Also, you are notified when someone (with better translations) re-uploads a chapter that has been uploaded already. So sometimes it's a re-upload not a false update.
If you weren't able to read the recent uploaded chapter/s, you can check other sites such as kunmanga , s2manga , manhwatop(dot)com. These sites don't/rarely delete chapters. No need for sign-up, you can read the manhwa/manga directly. Happy reading~
