The chocolate sign that Rihito was munching says “congratulations for getting a job” so that was after college graduation and he was moving to Tokyo soon. Pretty sure what the male friend said is just a mistranslation.
I dont think the cheating attempt was a big deal because their relationship (ATP) was weird.. it was not like a confession of love but "hey, we're compatable- let's date" even though Izumi wouldn't accept his role in the relationship at all but ya it made sense to me because Izumi character was just in denial about the whole thing and idk how serious he took the relationship at that time ┑(￣Д ￣)┍ but definitely dating means being exclusive to eachother so surely he knew that was wrong.. but ya I don't think it was deeper than that..
