Oof. Reading some of the comments bashing Luke for prioritising his job over Gabriel, makes me realise how young (or carefree) some of you must be. In an ideal world, of course your partner comes first; but in the real world, it's not always as clear cut as that. Luke is not wrong for prioritising work, but Gabriel's feelings are also valid. That's just the hand they were dealt with this time. How they sort this out (if they can) will determine if their relationship can work for the long run.
Personally, I have been on both sides of this and it's never easy. Employment is not a joke, especially in the times we're living in. It's a fanciful dream to have the ability to not care if your actions will get you fired or not. It also takes a mental toll since you know you're depriving your partner even when you don't want to. As the partner that's being left behind, it's emotionally draining. You feel like you're not worth it since you're not the one being prioritised, and you wonder if you're perhaps being immature or not understanding enough.

I see a lot of people sad about the couples "not ending up together" but that's what it's all about-- an encounter, a dream, that these women need as they feel they are lacking in certain parts of their lives. The encounter serves as a happy and memorable dream and gives them that little push to love themselves/feel excitement in their lives again. Of course, we can "dream" that they somehow find ways to reconnect and live on happily ever after, but I do love the way it's presented as a one chance encounter-- sometimes that's just how life is after all.

Anyway for those who wants spoilers:
Musutia's disease progresses and he is in dire need of the transplant. However, before that happens, the countries surrounding the island send a messenger requesting Shin back. Turns out he's the third prince of one of the countries (Garche).
Anyway, he negotiates with his brother to help the island and those afflicted with the sickness. Turned out the culprit was inhaling the pollen from a flower that that grew in abundance around them (the graveflowers). So they burn the flowers and Oraie officially opens its borders. Musutia gets a transplant of healthy alveoli from Noe, and they both survive.
There's a 7 year timeskip-- Noe gets a haircut, Shin is a foreign diplomat, and Musutia is in his 20s running Oraie. Noe and Musutia haven't confirmed their feelings or done anything further, so Shin (trying to help the relationship progress) let's out how sensitive Noe's nipples are and basically alludes to their trysts years before. Musutia gets jealous, they confess their feelings, do the deed, and live happily ever after.
So does that mean Noe and Musutia end up together? Not Shin and Noe?
Yes, Noe and Musutia end up together. Noe outright tells Musutia that he was thinking of him when he would find release with Shin lmao There really wasn't any room for Shin in Noe's heart.
Shin doesn't officially have a partner by the end, but I see a potential sequel for him and his steward Leandros, since I assume he's the important person Shin alludes to in chapter 1.
