Okay, he was an asshole and probably still is but I think we need to consider all people don't have the same emotional response and based on past experiences could lack the understanding for it.
I don't think this chapter is treating Yahwi as the victim, rather it's showing us how he works and how he's lacking, giving us a better understanding of the character. It's more explanation than justification.
I still think he needs to do better ofc but yeah this was my observation.
