Pozdnyshev, the main character, is absolutely a hateful bastard, but I knew that getting into it. It’s just a short story where a very angry, bitter man ponders and yaps about society. Utterly fascinating to read someone going on about the hypocrisies of the masses while being a cope-addled loser.
Ngl some authors really cannot write couples that knew each other growing up without it becoming creepy, but this one really nailed the tone. Keeping them apart while TY went through puberty helped imo.
