If it worked like that I don't think it would've been acceptable for him to use that shard technique with the evolving technique and all it's all at his disposition I think they're thinking like because he is one of the eight higer beings so normal techniques won't work so it leaves him with his original gluttony and space powers

The whole dying and that lady forgetting her name, giving up her life source to bring them back could've been sm more dynamic
