Dunno but being a bitter bitch I think to be actively pursuing your childhood first love and being obliviously inlove with your secretary/highschool bestfriend doesn't feel like possible. I think his just regretting not knowing it and feels guilty how his secretary could have been hurt for so long by seeing him inlove with someone else. But oh well I assume that he'll pursue the assistant and tell him he has been blind on what's in front of him blah blah blah then the assistant we'll accept his "romantic" feelings and happy ending.

Same thoughts here. I was so excited to the "chasing arc" but when I read that he KNOWS that he doesn't feel THAT kind of like towards the secretary/best friend I was kind of disappointed. 'Cuz what do you mean your heart does not flutter even once lol that just mean that he doesn't truly love him. But at the end he says he feel something he couldn't understand. So I thought maybe he's just about to discover what it is like to be genuinely in love. (I hope so)
But hey this is just a fiction, why am I over analyzing things lol. Still love this story, hope for them to have a good ending too!

I think that the fact he was so obsessed (not in love cause man you don't even know him no more) with Hajin and the whole idea of reuniting with him might have actually blinded him to any possible feeling he ever had towards someone else (not necessarily Seojoon) he got so used to only considering Hajin as a lover that he probably convinced himself he couldn't love anyone else. I do not believe that he didn't consider Seojoon as more than a friend at least once even if it might have been subconsciously and that is probably why Geonwoo told him all of that (since he saw how he always was attached to Seojoon) cause yes you can feel all that for your best friend but the moment when you realize that the idea of seeing him with another bothers you (and that seems to be the case in one of the last panels) that ain't only a friendship no more
.
Also spoiler" incoming
I saw some parts of the latest chapters on IG and it seems like he might have actually had a romantic interest in him but never acknowledge it (not sure cause sadly it was only pictures without dialogue) he might have actually compared him to Hajin (even just look cause they look alike) but still decided it was only a friend cause he was oh so busy chasing his (as they say in c-dramas) moonlight and let's be fair it almost never works with childhood crushes

ISTG the author is turning Yuna into an annoying, idiotic damsel . I was really hoping for actual character development from someone weak but insightful in analyzing fights into a fighter who, even with a weaker physique, could strategize and master her weapon. Instead, every single fucking time she ends up needing to be saved by the brothers that completely undermines her potential.
Just give her a moment where she’s forced to fight on her own and show growth in combat and independence. She’s been stuck in this same role since the very beginning of the story, with no real development, and it honestly feels like her potential is being completely wasted.

She’s just like a narrator atp. I think this series will go on for maybe another 150+ eps, maybe even more eps. I don’t think she’s a character to have really short character development like Thaddeus. Thaddeus’s story was resolved in a couple eps but I think that Yuna is gonna develop over the seasons and maybe until the end. I think this is the correct route for her character honestly. She’s not strong enough so physically she can’t even handle the fights Peter handles. She’s tried before and she knows it will fail. She isn’t a damsel in distress she’s just weak and if she tried she would be killed. She’s not a prodigy, YET. I really hope that she develops into one though.

I’m not asking for drastic power-ups or for her to become a prodigy that can fight disciples, just more signs of growth. Peter gave her a weapon to make up for her lack of strength, so it feels natural to expect at least one proper fight where she holds her ground ALONE even if she lose/get hurt.
Also the only times she’s really had focus were the monkey-like enemy fight(where she fought a little bit and was exciting as it show some developments but then focused on the brothers again) and her ice training scene. I really love her character because of the potential and wish there were more scene for her. Instead, even when the disciple was training them the focus was only on the brothers, when that would’ve been the perfect chance to also show how Yuna is guided by someone powerful to adapts and improve.
While I understand the “narrator” role, that alone doesn’t make her character feel well-written. Yes, it’s only season 1, and bigger development can come later, but sprinkling MORE glimpse where she shows her knowledge, improvisation, or growth rather than focusing on her just watching everyone fight would make her feel like she’s on the path even if slow instead of stuck in almost the same role from the beggining.

This feels like a cheaper version of debut or die but a parasocial fan edition. The system thingy is inconsistent, seems like the author is just using it to hide plot holes. The characters' personalities are just one note.

I can't see any deeper and more intentions in this story, it's just a protagonist having a PARASOCIAL relationship with her idol. The system's rewards and punishments isn't balanced or consistent. The characters also aren't well written since most of them have one trait/behavior shown. Maybe I'm missing other perspective of the story that you can elaborate so I can understand it :>

Spoiler:
All of our MCs actions rn seems very para social yes, but it's because we lack some key infos. Does the characters seems way too obsessive in her pursuit of making her favorite idol the top of the industry? Yes, it's because they have a past. This is actually their 4th life . Yes, they've been at this before. It's basically a cycle. In the original timeline, where the system hasn't interfered , MC and yeonwoo ARE IDOLS TGT. They're friends, in the same hs, and are both aiming to be idols. Mc hv always been the younger sister in her sibling's life too. The one we saw in the first chapters are actually their 3rd timeline. Where yeonwoo wished that they never met through idol industry. Because in their original lives, Their relationship was destroyed by it. And the timeline keep repeating because in each timeline, one of them got the help of the system and both of them keep choosing to save each other. So they've been at this cycle forever, they're friends, maybe even deeper than that because their whole lives, was always laid down to save each other.
So yea, it IS deeper than just a para social relationship. While I myself believe the writing and the portrayals of the manhwa could do better to communicate this to readers early on, it's extremely demeaning to immediately lable a story a cheaper version of another story THIS early on in the story.

Woah, that’s really mind-opening. If the author had portrayed or hinted at the plot better, the story would have felt much stronger, because without prior background a reader can only judge it based on what is presented. Right now, it feels lacking, and simply saying “we don’t have a whole lot of info about the plot” doesn’t quite justify it, since a well-written story should still be engaging and spark interest even early on. And of course, I apologize for calling the story a “cheaper version” of another. I should have worded that better. What I meant is that the lack of clear plot hints and buildup makes it easy for readers to draw such comparisons. Thanks for this new perspective. I appreciated it <3

I'm a big fan of DoD (my first Idol novel that I have read and is my top 3 novels from all time) but I need to tell you this, you are reaching. Just because a story is about idols and systems (which I know DoD helped popularize) doesn't mean they are a cheap copy or just reusing the same formula. Unlike Moondae who didn't want to be an idol because he didn't dream about, HSY doesn't want to be an idol because her objective, from the start, has been to make NYW debut. She is someone older that feels weird taking the chance of another child from debuting, unlike Moondae who had no choice for it because he will die if he doesn't do so. Although both appear to be forced by the system to become idols, the choices and the way they respond is different. Also, systems tend to be bastards, you can't really compare them because no matter what story you read they always strive towards an objective whether the protagonist likes it or not.
I feel that is time we end this xx is a copy of yy because with all literature you will see people using the same ideas and moving them towards different directions. It would be a copy if her personality was the same as Moondae's, her actions and situations similar, and the whole plot similar, this is not.

I get where you coming from, after all people have different tastes, however do understand I did read debut and die even up to recent chapters, the thing is, I still find it boring, everything is honestly just a repeat, and moondae, [ I understand his personality from his backstory,] is just bland, out of anybody in his series he has the worst personality and every time he’s on screen I yawn. Not to mention how great the first half of the manwha was versus how boring the rest is. Now that it just feels bland and so repetitive and predictable.

I really wish the romance had been better written. Using the ex-wife just to make Jihyun realize he likes Haemi felt too sudden and unearned. The American girl being randomly in love with Jihyun was fucking bullshit. She could’ve been a strong platonic friend or business partner, but they just made her another love interest out of nowhere.
Honestly, there was no proper build-up between Haemi and Jihyun. Even during med school, there weren’t any strong hints of romantic interest. If anything, it seemed like Jihyun was still drawn to his ex-wife. FGS they even went on a date. So when he suddenly rejected her with “I’m in love with someone else,” it came out of nowhere. I thought he would turn her down because he was afraid of repeating his past mistakes, not because of a surprise love confession tf.
Personally, I would’ve preferred if the romance focused on his redemption and learning to be a better partner to his ex-wife. That would’ve felt more connected to the main plot of the story.

I can't help but pity Lee Sangmin. Imagine growing up being abused, rejected and humiliated because of your parent's sin. Having the only family support (mother) die due to schizophrenia cause by stress.
With nothing left, Sangmin clung to a single goal: revenge. He dedicated his life to becoming the best, not out of ambition, but as a desperate attempt to prove his worth and throw his success in the face of the family that abandoned him.
Some may argue that "Many people are experiencing even worse but they don't become bad", That’s what makes them incredibly resilient and admirable. But we have to remember that people process trauma differently, based on their mental state, support system, coping mechanisms, and even personality.
Of course what he did was terrible and can never be excused. He tried to kill a boy and successfully killed a precious daughter of someone. The readers understadably can hate and never forgive him but they should understand how someone can be both a victim and a villain. Seeng the full picture helps us understand that people don't turn evil, they break.
