Coming from a fatbitch( MOI) I think its great actually. He's not losing weight for SOMEONE else, he's losing weight for his own mental health.
The only reason he's overweight is cause of trauma. Which is not often spoken, a lot of overweight people often have eating disorders. So him conquering his own trauma and loving himself again is great.(Not saying that being fat doesn't mean you hate yourself) but in this case he's not feeling like himself.
