She she is shacking up with another guy and exploiting his feelings for her meanwhile she has her son dumped in an orphanage - in the same town to "hide him". Absolutely pathetic weak FL completely spineless cant do anything herself whether it be run her own business or raise her own child.
Shes actually the most pitiful character in this story. Even more so than the FL.
The ML married her under false pretenses and never saw her "as a woman".

The ML's affection met his future wife not long after his sister's death when they were kids.

And its not before his wife realises their marriage isnt normal and ML feelings are platonic. This is what part makes her become what she is (an loose adulterous wife). Im not sure if they've never had sex but the marriage is basically sexless due to the ML having zero desire towrds his wife.
The wife does whatever she can to provoke a reaction from the ML even outright tell him she is sleeping with other men but he doesnt care aside from telling her "to look after herself".
She has multiple miscarriages from these affairs. Most the men she sleeps with are basically gigolos or students/talent she is "sponsoring".
The father of her baby appears to be an aspiring musician who is younger.
When the ML pays him a visit to essentially get him to sign a paternity waiver and basically pay him off. He calls the ML's wife to notify her and he tells her "your brother visited me". She asks the guy "why do you think he is my relative?"
And he responds based on how indifferent the ML was and he expected had it been the husband of the man of the woman he sleeping with would have beat the crap out of him for sleeping with their wife.
And this is just a stab to the ML's wife. Because it just confirms her husband has zero jealousy when it comes to her affairs.
Eventually she realises the ML doesnt want her and gets sick of being treated like a "sister". When she keeps seeing how the ML displays emotions (desire, possesiveness and jealousy) for the FL he never will show her. She presents him with divorce papers and moves to the US.
She really is a pitiful character who more or less was scammed by the ML looking to replace his dead sister into a fruitless marriage empty of any real feelings.
I think the author wants to portray the ML's wife in the worse light just so we can forget and let slide the FL is sleeping with a married man and agreed to carry his child for money.
I dont hate the FL and have sympathy for her but i do for the ML's wife also.
Just because the wife was tricked into a sexless and 'platonic' doesn't mean it was a pass to cheat while in a relationship. If you're a morally person cheating is out of the question to make a get-back-to-her-husband. She says she is in love with the ML but proceed to do adultery then hope to make him suffer in pain just because she doesn't get the natural husband and wife relationship. A relationship doesn't work without proper communication. If she could have tried to pursue to communicate the real problem to her husband, this apply to the ML(husband) as well, they could have not much wasted the relationship/friendship that they have built in their past.
Jealosy towards the FL is natural, but towards the FL how she slyly scheming and darkly wishing her dead like it wasn't her own mother who recruited the FL.
I don't think the author' want to portray the ML's wife in the worse light.Their character from the very start had already show who they are. Wife's mother blackmail the FL using FL's mother to the point of no one's giving the FL's mother any medical attention. She doesn't have any choice and from the start she asked if the wife knows about the offer to her and was told rather tricked too to yes. Morally she knows that that she'll be doing was wrong. In reality how can a poor person fight someone powerful if they are being blackmailed?
At least, neither of the FL and the ML wanted coitus from the start. They were forced, unlike someone who proceed to countless adultery.
