Rachel is a two-faced bitch. That will try to take credit for everything Marie does (although the Prince will see right through her and will despise her more for it).
She is also conspiring with Johannes but is so vindictive against Marie that she frathlmes her for theft out of spite. That will get Marie imprisoned temporarily.
Then sets a trap for her to get killed/harmed. This act gets her imprisoned for life and even her own family and Johannes want nothing to do with her.
In comparison, although bitchy , Ariel isn't really a bad person. She's not a great one either. Just a spoilt aristocrat that knows no better.
Rachel after being caught lying and taking credit for Marie talents, then manipulates
Ariel into confronting Marie by riling up Ariel ,on the basis of rumours about Marie's relationship with the prince.
Ariel takes the bait and tries to slap Marie, when she wrongly thinks Marie has "offended" her on purpose.
However, she gets stopped by Kiel and threatened by the Prince who visits her later that day. LOL she gets shook from that.
After Rachel's nasty stunt that almost kills her and Marie, she sees how much the Prince loves Marie. So she concedes and wishes Marie well and says she wants to find someone who loves her just as much.
Also, prior the trap setup by Rachel incident, Ariel apologised to Marie on the things she did and how she treated her.
