But in regular omegaverses the mark is permanent and usually the omega is then unable to sleep with anyone else and their pheromone only effects their alpha. The alpha, however, is able to mark multiple omegas. So while the omega is chained to the alpha for life, the alpha can leave them and go on to mark other people. Which is why there is a lot of drama about it in some omegverses! The culture will often be different for different authors.
Some will have the mark be normal and a loving thing, and some will make it more looked down on or about dominance
It also kind of depends on how omegas are viewed in the storyline. And whether or not they are equal or lesser
Personally if it's a loving couple I adore when the alpha marks the omega and since it stops their pheromones from effecting other alphas I usually think it's the smarter choice
