Tbh it would be a BIT better if he didn't admit mind breaking him for a slave/drug mule. instead just for deep lust/wanting him to suffer, I actually still can accept it. Like yandere coded or somewhat.

But aft the big revealing at the end with sovie being his slave/drug mule it just left poor taste in my mouth

I think I missed the point of what you were saying. And yes, I think you are right. Eric did take Avery for granted in many ways. Yes I get that he had been abused his whole life and it is hard to break out of the cycle. But seeing and knowing that Avery is popular will make Eric appreciate him and hopefully Eric will grow strong enough to fight for Avery.
