Yvonne is not Yvonne anymore, she's this deity/demon Leila who is using her body. Her goal is to eliminate Penelope, who is the last person of a race ig that can defeat her. This race is though to be the villains in this world, but that was Leila's doing.

yvonne is the goddess leila, so the masked woman we saw at that ritual in the cave was her. the mages that follow the goddess leila use magic in return for taking away someone’s life force, so they were supposed to be wiped out. they want to make a return and used yvonne’s body as a proxy for the goddess, meaning in reality, yvonne has long been dead. “yvonne” is using mind control but it takes time to fully control someone, as seen by reynolt. penelope was actually a talented mage that could fight the followers of leila, so she’s not as susceptible to yvonne’s mind contol (that doesn’t stop yvonne from trying to control her anyway). also yvonne needs the mirror fragment that penelope has in order to use her mind control to its full power. right now it’s kind of weak cause reynolt easily broke out of it

well another spoiler here. none of the timelines actually went well, because the followers of leila would always bring ruin in their uprising. yvonne was gone the moment she was separated from her family in that festival and possessed. vinter is the one who actually uses his power and magic to reset the timeline until this version of penelope shows up
